Ankuran

The initiative to build an orphanage and children’s center was motivated by the loss of Kevin Rohan Gurung. The Kevin Rohan Memorial Foundation is dedicated to providing other children with the opportunities which Kevin, who died at the age of 7, was never able to have. Ankuran, which is Nepali for ‘sprout’, will provide a safe, fertile, and healthy place for children to sprout and grow. It will also provide jobs for the community. Ankuran will double as a kindergarten for children with future plans to upgrade it to a school. This kindergarten will provide a culturally and a Waldorf inspired education, not commonly found in Nepal.

However, in order to make these plans a reality and enrich the lives of children in Kathmandu the Foundation is looking for donors who share in their commitment.

Provide a better future to children in Nepal

The Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation has started the planning and purchase of a piece of property that will be used to build the Ankuran Orphanage and Children’s Center. Renting space in Nepal is risky and even contractual agreements do not guarantee long term usage. Faced with a wonderful opportunity to buy a property for the orphanage and committed to serving the children of Kathmandu Valley, the KRMEF decided to buy the land with the hopes that others will share in the foundation’s conviction and invest in the future of Nepal.

Given the constraints of the loan, we have until the 24th of January 2012 to pay the purchasing agreement for the price of US$25,000. We need the help of donors in this effort to make the plans for the center a reality. Everyone has the opportunity to make a difference in Nepal by sponsoring a plot of land.

We kindly invite you to be a part of our initiative by sponsoring one or several plots of land. All land will be bought in the name of the KRME-Foundation. The property we have purchased measures 120 square meters. On the property, we can build a beautiful house with 3 floors. One square meter costs $270 (CHF 240) including the construction of the first floor. We require 45 small sponsors of 1 square meter. And…

We are looking for 15 big sponsors ($1350 or CHF 1200) for plots which measure 5 square meters.

As a sign of appreciation, you and two guests will receive a complimentary one night free stay here in the village and three traditional Nepali meals for each plot of sponsorship. In addition, your name will be added to a plaque of sponsors in the Ankuran Home which you helped make a reality.
